Horror filmmaking workshop -  - Millers Point - NSW
Day 1: Scriptwriting and horror special effects Learn the art of scriptwriting from Sydney Story Factory, and how to make horror special effects. Participants will be guided through basic film story structure and devise a horror story to be filmed on day 2. Participants will be taught about script formats, storytelling devices and the shot types commonly used in filmmaking. In the afternoon, we will be creating the props and make-up effects needed to bring the story to life. Day 2: Filming on location at Paddington Reservoir Gardens Come down to Paddington Reservoir Gardens and help bring our horror film to life. Young people will be needed for both acting and behind the scenes roles. We'll shoot the script written by young people on day 1. No experience is needed to join in on the lights, camera or action. BYO lunch. Please wear shoes and sunscreen, and bring a water bottle. Includes transport to, and from Erskineville, Redfern, Ultimo and Sydney Town Hall before 10.30am. These lessons require a signed permission form that will be provided upon booking. Participants must be between 13 and 18 years old, or enrolled in high school if younger than 13. The City of Sydney may publicly display photos taken including on the youth services Facebook page. No personal information of participants will be published. This is part of the Youth in the City school holiday program.
