Why take the test?

• Know if your exercise and nutrition are working for you.

• Reduce your risks of developing Heart Disease, Diabetes or Stroke through good nutrition and exercise, as well by tracking changes in your body composition.

• Be supported by Fitness First every step of the way with an in depth analysis and explanation of your results.

• Take the opportunity to meet with us in club where we can help you design a program and routine to follow with our state of the art facilities and Freestyle Group Training programs.

Can I eat before taking the test?

Yes, however it is recommended to take the test about two (2) hours after a meal, as food mass would be included in your weight. Taking the test on an empty stomach or two (2) hours after a meal will yield more accurate results.

Do I need to use the bathroom before the test?

Excretions are not included in the body’s compositional elements, but they are factored into total body mass. This may result in marginal measurement errors.

How do I prepare for the test?

Very little preparation is required. However, it is best to avoid any strenuous activity, a shower or sauna prior to the test, as this may cause temporary changes in body temperature and composition.

Can I take the test during my menstrual cycle or if I am pregnant?

Yes, however during this time women experience changes in water retention which may skew results. For this reason, it is always important if being retested to do so on or around the same day each month.

What do I wear during the test?

The great thing about the InBody scanner is that it’s non-invasive and yields reliable results even with your clothes on. Slip off your shoes and you are ready to go!

Of course, under ideal circumstances it is best not to wear any accessories or jewellery which may result in minor changes in body weight.

Who shouldn’t use the InBody?

Bioelectrical impedance testing uses very minor currents which are harmless to the body.

Although the electrical current is extremely low, it is not recommended for people with implanted defibrillators or pacemakers.

Will I feel any pain during the test?

Those with very sensitive and tactile skin may feel a tingling sensation on their hands and feet. The electrical signal send through the body is too low to detect.
