Maker and creator workshops: 8-12 years Glebe - - Glebe - NSW
Your creative brain will be in great company at our hands-on after-school making sessions. You’ll get to play and create with the latest robotic toys and digital and electronic gadgets. There are 4 workshops to build different digital and making skills suitable for kids 8 to 12 years old. Make your own record player: Wednesday 18 October With just a pin, two coins and a manila folder, kids will get to make their own record player. They’ll get to test their creation and play tunes using our old vinyl records. Paper circuits: Wednesday 1 November In this session, we’ll be exploring paper circuits with switches that turn LED lights on and off. Kids will get to make an origami jumping frog and a cat, both with eyes that light up. Ozobot map challenge: Wednesday 15 November Kids will use our Ozobot robots to code their way around a historical map of Sydney. Each Ozobot represents a historic character from the city, allowing kids to step back in time and follow their path. This activity was developed as part of the Our City: 175 Years in 175 Objects exhibition curated by the City Curator, City Archivist and City Historian. Spheros robots: Monday 29 November We’re bringing our crowd favourite robotic balls back for another session. Young kids will have fun learning about coding with the world’s first app-enabled robotic ball. They’ll get to navigate their Sphero robot through some Christmas themed obstacle courses and challenges. Sessions are free and run for 1 hour. Bookings are essential as places are limited. Parents or guardians are required to stay during the session.
