Kids

Learn block coding and interactive electronics by exploring the micro:bit. Each week, you’ll build skills by creating and designing animation and games. Perfect for participants who’ve already tinkered with block coding environments. These workshops will extend skills into the physical world with an introduction to making interactive electronics.
Even though the micro:bit fits in your hands, it’s a fully programmable computer that can be used to build cool creations. From robots to musical instruments, the possibilities are endless.
This little device has big features, like 25 red LEDs that can blink messages. 2 programmable buttons can be used to control games, pause and skip playlisted songs, detect motion and perceive direction.
Code Rangers
Coding is a new literacy. That’s why we put kids in charge of technology and teach them to code. As a key skill for this generation, the sooner kids learn, the easier and more intuitive it is.
This free series is suitable for 10 to 13 year olds. Bookings are recommended as places are limited to a maximum of 8. Participants must attend all sessions.
Prior block coding experience like MIT Scratch is beneficial to get the most out of this series.
Parents or guardians are required to stay in the library during the workshop.
